Can’t export to 16:9 Quicktime from HD sequence
Hi there,
I’m using Final Cut 4.5 and Quicktime 7. I created a lovely little animation using a DVCPRO HD 720p 60 sequence and Boris titles. It looks and runs fine in FCP.
I’m trying to export it to Quicktime file. But when ever I do it converts the file to 4:3 aspect ratio. I’ve tried several codecs PNG, TIFF, JPG, Animation, H.264, with the same results. I also tried setting a custom size of either 960×720 or 480×360, also no luck.
Has anyone had a similar problem or know what I might be doing wrong?

That’s because DVCPRO HD native footage is 960×720. It is recorded anamorphic to conserve bandwidth. It’s one the reasons we can now edit HD on laptops. The correct 16:9 aspect ratio is 1280×720. Try exporting your quicktime changing the size to 1280×720.
