ok so i have a m10u connected to my mac through firewire, and i can import just fine, but i want to playback through the m10u then component to a tv for color correction and such. i remeber a while back i was able to do this, but now when i go to video playback > it give me HDV ( 1440 x 1080 ) 30 fps or 25 fps, or just the desktop.

if you are editing in DV then you should be able to use the workflow you’re suggesting … but not for HDV. are you using HDV? there is no capacity to play HDV over firewire from the timeline whilst editing (you need to conform your edit before you can do this)
