i’m trying to output my sequence to my deck. i’ve tried my dv deck and my dv camera and all the different settings on the devices but i still keep getting nothing but a blue screen. the footage is playing back in final cut and i can control the decks if i want to digitize footage. am i missing something i need to to do in FCP when outputting?

What camcorder are you using? Many cameras need to be switched in a menu or an actual switch to change from the “camera” mode to a Firewire input mode. Check if yours will automatically detect a Firewire input or if it needs to be switched manually.

PS: Also make sure that you have Final Cut set to actually output your video.

With your deck/camera connected and on, hit control-q and select the dv ntsc easy setup, and make sure your video is set to dv firewire and external video is set to all frames in the bottom of the view menu.
