    Hey all,

I have a little problem with a project we’ve been working on for the last six months. I can’t delete anything out of the timeline or the bins.

I did install FCP 5 a month ago, but I’m pretty sure this problem is new. I’ve been doing some color corrections and graphics work the last couple of weeks and I went to remove a clip I wasn’t happy with (clicked on it in the timeline pressed delete) when the pinwheel showed up and the FCP went tottaly unresponsive. I’ve tried deleting prefs, moving to a different machine(it’s the same on my powerbook.) I even copied the whole project over using media manager and I’m still having the same problems.

A new project doesn’t have this problem. I guess I could rebuild it from scratch (like copying stuff over to new timelines) but this thing is long format with multiple cameras etc.

The director comes back on Monday. I don’t want to tell her the whole project is F___ed. I’m freaking out a little.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Dave

    David…

Here’s a couple things to try.

First off, make a backup of the project onto a seperate hard drive just in case the worst happens.

Then see if you can move the clip to the end of the sequence where it’s out of the way. That’s one way to get it out of the spot you’re trying to change.

Another option is to create a new sequence, then select all the clips from the old sequence, copy them, and paste them into the new sequence.

Or you can try the same copy/paste with a whole new project.

    Hope this helps.
