  • Can’t connect camera

Posted by Louis Stevenson on October 12, 2009 at 9:48 pm

I tried capturing video for the first time today but when I hooked up the camera and opened Final Cut Pro, I got this message, “Unable to initialize video deck” and I searched that and tried figuring out the problem. I could not connect to Imovie eitehr and when I looked up the firewire in the System Profiler it did not see the camera.

I’ve already tried most of the troubleshooting tips and tried a second camera, with no luck.

[Dave LaRonde] “It would be helpful to know such things. “

    Dave,

Like yours, my own psychic abilities seem to be fading. I too am finding it increasingly necessary to ask for at least a hint or two from those asking for precise technical help.

    Again we need more info.

What are your time line settings?
What format did you shoot in?

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!

I’m sorry but that tells us nothing. Your defalts may be set different from everyone else defalts.

    What format did you shoot?
    What are your timeline settings?

We can’t help you if we don’t know what exactly you are working with and dooing. Because we are not the ones sitting at your computer that information can only come from you.

Restart the machine? Trash your prefs? Those usually help me out in a bind.
