  • Can’t change timeline clips appearance

    Hello.
The new upgrade and the new beta driver for Intensity Pro had finally me jump the gun and buy FCPx. I must say I find it much better than I expected after reading the lots of complaints about the previous release. I’m still playing with the new toy while leaving the serious work on the FCP7, but I like it, besides a bunch of features that I did not find so far or just aren’t there, as a IMX 625 4 tracks audio export and a few other things. Now, while working on a test project, the clips on the timeline suddenly changed their appearance, and turned into a plain bar with no filmstrip and no audio waveform. I can’t turn back to the original fiddling with “clip appearance” toolbox. I can select the various options but nothing will change. I noticed I have what looks like a warning in the project library, related to exported files. This happened to more than one test project. Is that an anomaly or is it me missing something?
    Thank you

A screengrab might help, if you don’t mind.

That little warning means you’ve “shared” a project, I think, again a screengrab would help.

Here they are. The first shows the clip appearance in contrast with the selected option in the tool box, the second the warning sign. I could not add them to the post so I uploaded them to my web space.

    Just a thought…

Go into your roles tab in the timeline index. To the right of each role name is a box with an up arrow in it to minimize each role.

The boxes should be grey. If any of them are blue, then the clips with those roles are minimized in the timeline.

    Thanks for the images.

What Mark said covering the Roles.

And that “warning” sign is just a sign letting you know you have exported (or Shared) that timeline.
