  • Can’t change highlight group for button in Encore CS3

    Subject title says it all.

I’m so confused. I made a DVD menu last week… buttons and highlights work fine.

Made a new menu last night, and I can’t change the “highlight” group number.
There’s just a “–” instead of a number and it’s greyed out… I can’t click on it to get the drop down menu.

I imported this menu into the the first project… and the 1st menu still works fine, but the second is STILL greyed out?!!

FYI… the first menu was 4:3 and the second 16:9, but I don’t see how that should matter.

    Any thoughts?

Any new project I try to make gives me the same greyed out “highlight” option.

If it weren’t for the 1st project working properly… I’d say that Encore won’t let you change the group.

FYI… I tried to manually change the group from “(=1)” to “(=2)” in photoshop… but still greyed out.

Also, when the button is selected, instead of turning from yellow to red… it is yellow and then disappears.

    ???

I was having the same problem. Did you make your buttons in Photoshop. If so, this is your answer:

The highlight groups are based on the colors you made in Photoshop.

You can also go to Menu>Edit Menu Color Set and hit the New Color Set button. That will make a copy of the Automatic Color Set (which is based on your Photoshop Colors) and you can tweek it from there.

    Sorry for the late reply…

I finally found a solution, but forgot to come back and post it here in case anyone else had the same problem.

    (1) Left-click on the menu you’re working on (in the “project” list).
    (2) Look at the “properties” on the right side.
    (3) Click on “color set” (it will be set to “automatic”) change it to “menu default”.

And VOILA! Now you have the option to change the Highlight group for any button.

    Enjoy 🙂
