I tried to capture my own voice trhough a microphone for off line purposes. I see the green volume meter react so the signal comes through to FCP. I select only audio capture in the clip tab of the capturing window and I push the capture now button.
After a moment I get the message that I can’t capture because there is no video signal. Well that’s right!!! That’s exactly what I want, so why the @#$%^&**!!! can’t I capture????

Use the Voice Over tool instead.

You can also run ANY video signal to your Kona card, anything at all as long as it’s video. If you have video running to the card, and then deselect it and record your audio, you should be good.

Strange thing is though that I used to be able to record audio this way. Why did they change that??

As far as I know, it’s pretty much always been like this.

Sorry. I am not sure when the switch happened.

For scratch tracks, I think it’s way good. I use this USB headset made by Plantronics and it just works…
