I Can’t burn Blu Ray discs.

My project settings are 1440×1080, 29,970 fps NTSC. 1.3333( HDV 1080)

My blu-ray burner drive is: LiteOn ATAPI iHES208 2.

    The disc is Verbatin BD-R.

If i try to burn the Blu-ray disc using ‘tools/burn/blu-ray Disc’ i get the error: “Please insert a writable disc in the drive.”

If i try to burn the Blu-ray disc using Architect (m2v video + ac3 audio) I get the error: This application does not support burning to DVD-RAM (Profile 0x00003fff)

Any ideas on why I can’t burn Blu-ray discs?

What version of DVD Architect are you using?

Personally, I have had 100% success with BD-RE discs. I get nothing but coasters with BD-R. Strange but true.

Just as a test, can you burn Blu-ray from Nero, Roxio or similar third party burning tools?

The primary reason you can’t burn Blu-ray on the “LiteOn ATAPI iHES208” is that… well, sorry to break the news, but it’s not a BD-R writer. Lite-On calls this a “Blu-ray Combo Drive”, which means it’s a Blu-ray reader and DVD/CD reader/writer in one.

Here’s the Lite-On press release about this drive:

I thought I had a true blue-ray drive. Misleading Advertising. Thank you 🙁

Can’t believe I missed that one, despite looking at the specs which I now realize were presented in quite a misleading way. However, further down the page is a screen shot taken from the Nero Info tool. Yup, your drive is only a reader:
