can’t batch with dsr 30

April 5, 2005 at 8:35 pmsetting up my system over the past few days. Finally to the point of testing batch capture. The deck is recognized as a generic dv-ntsc device as there is no list for the DSR 30. Can control the deck fine, set in/out no problem, log clip. Go to batch and the deck won’t cue up it just plays. Someone suggested try to “fool” the avid by config for dsr-11, it didn’t like that. I don’t have a mojo yet and I’ve got the FW hooked into the Pyro 64 PCI card in slot five. I also have the ext FW drives as well. tried moving the deck to the internal FW port but makes no difference. Am I wasting my time??? Is there another setting that my mimic the DSR30 as another deck?

April 6, 2005 at 4:16 amHello creature
I found this on a manual on the web…it looks like the only way to edit with the dsr 30 is by the lanc controller. Could be wrong but worth a look. strange but looks like it may be true!!Pearl
LANC Editing
The DSR-30 is equipped with LANC
connectors. By connecting the DSR-30 with
another LANC based recorder or a camcorder
such as the DSR-200A or DSR-PD1, TC-based
accurate editing is possible. Even without an
editing controller, the DSR-30 is capable of
assemble editing with a program memory of
up to ten events. Insertion of video and/or
audio signal is also possible without an editing
controller. With the optional FXE-120 Video
Editing System connected, the DSR-30 can
serve as a feeder machine for a professional
A/B roll editing system.

April 6, 2005 at 11:40 amThe odd thing is the firewire controls the deck perfectly. It just won’t recognize the timecode for batch capture into the AVID.
