Okay, I thought I had done this properly.

I checked the footage (HDV 29.97) and set my project up to what I thought were the same parameters before importing the footage. I wasn’t able to AMA link (comes from a somewhat outdated Sony Z5 camera), so I just dragged the clips into a bin and allowed AVID to transcode everything to MXF.

Now I’m editing in the timeline and a number of functions seem greyed out or otherwise unavailable, like speeding up clips, and making freeze frame.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

    Many thanks,

    Dan Schultz

If your footage does not match your project frame rate, your clips already have a speed effect on them (note the green dot) called a motion Adapter. If you want to adjust the speed, you will have to do it in a sequence by opening the motion effect editor,

If you want a freeze, find the frame you want and change the speed to zero.
