  • Can’t Access AE Prefs!! Help! Error!

    I just downloaded the update for AE and installed it. Now I’m on 8.0.27.

    I’m trying to access my prefs to set up some scripts and I’m getting the following…

    “After Effects error: getting volume info – disk error (I/O error; bad media) (-36).
    (3 :: 89)”

    Can someone tell me what’s going on? I don’t have the time to reinstall AE.

    Thanks a lot.

    you might try trashing the adobe after effetcs prefs file. the software will create a new one automatically… hopefully the new one won’t have an error.

    I have the same issue on my AE system. I tried trashing the prefs but it didn’t fix the error. Next I tried a reinstall of AE CS3 but that failed because it kept asking for “disk 2 ExtendScript Toolkit 2.” I tried downloading and installing the latest ExtendScript Toolkit 2 from Adobe, but afterward the AE reinstall still prompted for disk 2 and would not proceed.

    I really don’t know if I should do a manual uninstall of After Effects for two reasons. I’m afraid of damaging shared components with CS3 Design Suite apps and I’m afraid that I still might run into the same “disk 2” scenario when I go back to install After Effects.

    Has anyone else had this or found a remedy?
