Canon ZR700 won’t play anything that wasn’t shot on a ZR700
I recently bought the ZR700 to use solely as a deck for my final cut pro home setup. Problem is about 80% of the tapes I’ve run through it just play as a jittering/stuttering image.
Now the heads are clean AND the tapes play perfectly on several professional decks, but not on this camera. Did I screw myself thinking that a canon mini-dv camera could play sony originated material?

What does “sony originated material” mean? These tapes you speak of may have been shot in DVCAM format, which will not play back in just any mini-DV camera.
