Canon XL2 audio HISS
Hi everyone. I’ve been having a problem when I shoot. There is a subtle but annoying hiss when I record. I know it’s not my XLR mic because I can still hear the hiss without it connected. I have tried taking out the battery button near the tape and removing the main battery at the same time to reset to factory settings but that has not worked. Any other solutions someone might have? Thanks.

Is this hiss white noise or does it have more of an “electrical” bite?
Does this hiss carry to the captured footage in your editing suite?
If it doesn’t carry over… it may just be a crappy headphone amp.
If it does carry over to your recorded footage regardless of what mic/cable combination you use, what are your settings on this panel? https://asia.cnet.com/i/r/2005/pav/39229462/1.jpg

just a hiss no electrical bite and yes it carries over to the recorded footage, starting from the top left I have the input select at “rear”, rec level at “m”, input select at “rear”, rec level “m”, Rec CH select at “ch1-ch2”, Mic att “off”. all the channel dials 1-4 are set at about 3/4 of the way to the right
