Canon XH G1 Settings for Green Screen
Posted by Denisse Monay on October 26, 2012 at 8:46 pmSalutations,
Can anyone tell me what settings are best suited for the Canon XH G1 when it comes to shooting green screen?
Advice is much appreciated!

November 2, 2012 at 12:33 pmHi Denisse,
there are no special settings for the Green Screen (I’d use a neutral Custom Picture preset), but the best thing to do is to use an external 4:2:2 SDI recorder (like BMD Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 that can record uncompressed or compressed video 4:2:2 @220Mbps ).
The XH-G1 outputs from SDI clean and uncompressed video 1920×1080 with 4:2:2 sampling while it records on tape @ 1440×1080, 4:2:0 at 25Mbps.Best Regards,

November 2, 2012 at 5:15 pmThank you for responding, you’ve definitley aided me with the cam question.
I have an HDR-55 recorder that also stores uncompressed or compressed video 🙂
Just out of curiosity, how many GB or TB can the BMD hyperdeck shuttle store?-Dee

November 3, 2012 at 1:06 pmHello Denisse,
the BMD Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 has a slot for a common SATA SSD (no SSD is bundled with it); so the more SSDs you have, the more video you can store, without limits. On the HDR-55 web page I read that it can record up to 100Mbps; can you record uncompressed too? Does it use SSD or HDD? What is the size of its bundled drive? Spec Sheet isn’t available on the Datavideo website…
Ciao,
