Canon XF100 Shutter Speed Advice
Hi fellow cows.
I recently purchased an xf100 camcorder and noticed a small issue.
I`ve always used 1/50 shutter with my xl1s 25fps standard def camcorder and had great results but using the same shutter with the xf100 HD 50i (25fps) i always get motion blur and this is at walking speed nothing faster.
Set the xf100 to 1/100 shutter and it is fine.
Is this normal as I always thought 25fps 1/50 shutter is correct but the xf100 requires 1/100.
Any advice would be much appreciated

On my XF105 (US version which has 60i/30p instead of 50i/25p), the shutter characteristics are different between 30p and 60i.
When shooting 30p at a 1/30th shutter or 60i at a 1/60th shutter, one has a 360 degree shutter angle.
When you go to 1/100th shutter from 1/50th shutter, you are decreasing the shutter angle from 360 degree to 180 degree. The result of going to 180 degree shutter is that pixels are exposed in a smaller time window due to the rolling shutter.

I already have the EBU information for setting up the camera but thanks for the links.
Just to clarify that the 180 degree shutter angle is only used with rolling shutter cmos sensor cameras as ccd worked ok at 1/50th shutter with global shutter.
Am I correct?
