In case anyone hasn’t noticed: Canon released their utility to import XF and C300 files into FCP X.

Download it, install it. Open up import from camera with a Card in the reader and off you go..

Except one big caveat (and I’m fairly sure I haven’t missed anything): It ignores recorded clip names and numbers and renames all the clips by date and time…. which is useless if you have done a two camera shoot and made a point of making sure each camera had its clip naming set right.

Oh and FCP X seems to do a batch name wrongly as well 🙁 I thought OH well I’ll just use the batch name to rename all the clips but for some reason, despite FCP being set to sort by TC it renamed them in a strange way.

Luckily there’s only 15 clips on each camera…

Update: If you use FCP X to rename to original camera name, its does what it should do and restores the clips names. But why rename it in the first place?

It’s probably a keyword thing Michael.

That’s all I can assume at this point!
