I’m thinking about buying a Canon XF-300 or 305 and was wondering if anyone has had any experience/issues with their files in Vegas. I’m using Vegas Pro-9d.

I have been using Sony Vegas for over one year to edit my MTS files from Sony camera and have not met any problem. Recently, I was asked to edit some .mxf files, shot by Canon XF300, but found that my Vegas can not read these files. After googling, some users give the solutions. First, we can use the Canon XF Utility to import clips from the CF cards into virtual hard drives if wanna retain al the extra camera information. I tried the canon plug-in, a bit frustrated. I still can’t import my Canon mxf files to Sony Vegas successfully. Then I had to try the other choice- transcode the MXF clips into less compressed MPEG-2, which works great for editing in Vegas. Yes, it helped me out. I can get the output files into Sony Vegas with smooth editing. The whole importing and editing process was much easier than what I’ve expected.
