  • Canon T3i- how to avoid exposure adjust while zooming

I’m a new T3i user. I’ve been playing around with the manual video settings and so far haven’t been able to have full manual control over my camera. I’ve set the f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO all to specific settings, but upon zooming in toward a subject the exposure compensation levels fluctuate. The result is an undesired and quick change in light level, which readjusts to the zoom level.

Is there anyway to lock my settings down so this can be resolved?

Or is this even possible with this model?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Just guessing… but you most likely have a variable f-stop zoom lens… like an f4.5-5.6? Meaning that when you zoom in your f-stop on the lens changes. You need to get a lens that is the same f-stop all the way through the zoom range. The L series Canon lenses like this one are the ticket… but as you can see, the price goes up substantially for this feature.

    Good Luck!

Nice, you’re definitely right. So that saves me a lot of anxiety about my new purchase and I can start saving for some lenses.

    Thanks so much!
