March 13, 2010 at 7:45 pmYeah but to my understanding the HDMI out is not full resolution- i.e. the Matrox is doing an upconvert. So it’s either- full resolution compressed, or lower resolution uncompressed.

March 14, 2010 at 1:06 pmHey Noah, I read it a bit differently. My understanding is that, as long as you’re not recording to camera, LiveView can be used for full HDMI out (…to a recording device). The limitation seems to be in the information (i.e. black bars, recording dot, focus box) that is present on the HD output. Such a thing would seem tantalizingly “hackable.”

March 14, 2010 at 7:19 pmOn the other hand I hear rumor after rumor that the 7D’s firmware is far less hackable that the 5Ds so I wouldn’t hold your breath there….
