So i’ve been made aware that Canon’s GL1’s aren’t actually shooting at 720×480 and actually crop 13 pixels (so they’re 707×480) does anyone know if the XL1’s do that as well?

or what is my best bet for a camera in this range if I’m looking to purchase (as the GL1 is not working for me with that stupid cropping!)

    thanks!

    Not true,
The GL1 shoots video @ 720×480. What you see on the sides (the black bars) is the overscan area, which this camera leaves black, but DON’T crop as you don’t see this overscan on TV.
