    Hi,

Complete novice here so please go easy. I have a problem with my Canon Mv500 – I have had it for years but never used the functionality to link to PC. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a firewire port and decided to buy a cable to link to the camcorder and use the Windows movie maker to start editing. However when I connect up the camera and turn it on to ‘player’ mode and press play my laptop doesnt see anything and cant capture the footage. I’ve tried the on and off routine but I dont get the autoplay that I would expect to see when I plug in say my digital stills camera. Am I missing something? I tried the canon website for drivers but I don’t think thats the problem as I would expect to at least see some activity when I connect. For the record the laptop is running Vista if that makes a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    A
