Canon Multi-cam Question
In order to do a proper multicam shoot with matching timecode, is it necessary that all cameras have a Jackpack?
I have an XHA1 and the punky, but surprisingly impressive for what it is, HV30. I’ve been matching them in FCP by sight and sound cues. And this has been working ok, but it is, of course, time consuming.
Do I need at least 2 G1’s in order to do a multicam shoot, or is there some way to match a G1 to an A1 with matching timecode?Thanks

Quick “no special gear” workaround.
Run a monitor out cable from Cam 1 over to near Cam 2 and set up a Cam 1 monitor near Cam 2.
Set the output of Cam 1 to display its TC on the monitor.
Begin recording on both cameras.
Shoot Cam 1’s TC on Cam 2 from the monitor for a few seconds, then pan over to shoot the actual scene.Do that every time you begin rolling on a new tape (or after a break.)
In post, you can visually match Cam 2’s footage to Cam 1’s TC.
