I’m investigating going to a new workflow which involves ditching Firewire in favor of HDMI capture through the Intensity Pro. Here’s what I’m thinking, tell me if I’m crazy or what won’t work.

    1. Shooting on Canon XH A1 to tape in 24p
    2. Using HV30 connected to Blackmagic Intensity Pro via HDMI for capture to ProRes.
    3. Performing a reverse telecine through Compressor on captured clips to regain true 24p
    4. Edit in 24p

    Questions:
    1. When I capture via Firewire, FCP automatically creates a new clip on every start/stop from the tape. Will this still happen doing a “Capture Now” via the Intensity pro?
    2. Will the reverse telecine of the footage actually regain the 24p via this method?

Important Specs: Quad Core Mac Pro running Tiger (soon to be Snow Leopard), FCS 2.
