I have a client coming in tomorrow with Canon EOS 5D Mark II footage. He’s bringing a hard drive supplied by his photographer. I was wondering if my Media100 will play nice nice with it. I’m running version 13.0.5. Anybody know?

I also have FCS 2.0 and the CS5 production bundle. I’ll probably do most of my work in After Effects CS5, but wanted to view and sequence my video in M100.

Any suggestions on import and workflow would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Both for Media 100 and for Final Cut Studio 2 you need to convert the footage before you can edit it. I would do a quick conversion in Compressor of your selected takes, e.g. to ProRes. Then work from there. If you need to do heavy compositing or colorcorrection, you could also try to use the native file in AfterEffects. Not sure if they will work there nicely, though.

There are a number of solutions for transfer. I’ve been told
that Magic Bullet Grinder is the best.

    https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-grinder/

or the Canon EOS plug-in for FCP

If you are working with double sytem audio use pluraleyes.com software
to sync the camera audio to the good audio recorded seperately.

    Good luck,
