Canon E1 plug-in capture problems
Totally stumped here.
CONTEXT: Capturing 2 32gb cards of MOV files shot on a t2i to fcs3 via E1.
PROBLEM 1: The majority of my files are captured fine, but here and there I am having a problem where the E1 plug-in only captures a portion of the clip. The source files are 4 and 5 minutes, but the transferred clips are cut short by at least half. Is E1 still too new to be considered reliable? What gives?
PROBLEM 2: (Probably unrelated?) A couple of my MOV files are completely unreadable from the card. I’m getting the “the file is not a movie file” error. Are the files corrupted? Are they impossible to fix? Is there an app for that?

Are you capturing to drives over a network using AFP à la final share (ethernet)? There is a known limit to Apple’s AFP that cuts out after 4GB. Happens with P2 and Red footage as well.

Thanks Warren and Steve. I’m capturing to my local machine, not over a network so don’t think that’s an issue. In fact, I think FAT32 limits the Canon DSLR recording file sizes to 4GB already.
I implemented the E1 t2i hack already and have been able to capture most of my footage, it’s just this seemingly intermittent issue that has cropped up on a few clips. I’m thinking E1 might still be a bit buggy.
I’d hate to find that the t2i is buggy as well. One of the shots I can’t open was some pretty pivotal b-roll. If anyone knows of a way to open/fix a corrupted MOV I could really use a link!
