    HI
My friend recently bought an iMac quad core and started editing a film project which shot on Canon 5D (h.264).I have learnt through forums that it’s always better to transcode the footage to ProRes.In the FCP timeline we just changed the sequence setting to ProRes and renderd it.It was smooth then until last week.Suddenly he started to get “Codc Not Found ” error and whenever he tried to do match frame, FCP quits.Pls help with this issues.Thank u.

    Hi Raj,
A bit of maintenance. Start trashing the FC’s preferences and see if the issue gets fixed.

You need to transcode ALL of your files. Not just render the timeline.

If you transcode your files first, Then edit in proper timeline, You shouldn’t have to render.

Transcoding is not rendering your timeline.

Use mpeg streamclip or log and transfer with the Canon EOS FCP plugin to transcode your H264 files to ProRes.

    Then start editing.

First, Thank u guys for ur quick response. My god…i think i am in problem. It’s a feature film , my friend almost edited the film.So if he transcode the H.264 original clips to ProRes,how could we get the edited sequence ? Pls advice me…I just gave him the advice , but i don’t want to let him alone handle the crisis. What’s the best and easy way to get the timeline in ProRes.
By the way, i did find the info. on net about canon plugin. But it needs the card which used at the spot. But they have copied the footage and given to us.That’s why i suggested him this method.
He can’t do the whole edit again. The Director and producer will take action if something goes wrong.Pls pro. people give me advice for it, as u all know the value of feature film and the career.
