    Hi

I`m working on the post of a project filmed with the Canon EOS C500 in 1080p, I was told in the beginning that that camera delivers de 1080p clips in Apple Pro Ress, but now I`m told from various sources that it delivers them in a strange format, probably mxf, also told that a lot of people have had trouble transcoding those into apple pro res to edit them. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advices or heads up about the most optimal workflow to edit those files in Final Cut Pro 7.

    Thanks a lot.

You might find the following link useful. The C500 and C300 have similar import processes.

    https://blog.abelcine.com/2012/02/07/how-to-import-c300-footage-in-avid-fcp-x-and-premiere/

Regarding the internal underlying mechanics of the process, I am not completely sure about the process (I have an XF105 which uses the same process). See the following link with my query:

    Hope this helps.

Hey Mark, thank you so much for your help, both links were very helpful.
We got the C500 today and I tried to instal the software included on the camera, but it won`t let me, in the requirements it says it need Mac Os 10.6 or 10.7, I have 10.8, I thought as it is a more advanced OS it would have no problem but it does, when I try to install it it tells me the OS is not supported. Should I downgrade to 10.7?

    Thank you very much.

There is updated software on the website for Mac OS 10.8. It can be downloaded at:

I am using Mac OS 10.8 with the Canon software.

Hello everyone, Ok use the Canon software to do the conversion, but to make the conforming? What do you use? Now I have a movie edited with proxies, but now I have to do the conforming but the canon software does not accept EDL. How could I do?
