  • Canon c300 files fail in After Effects and Prelude.

    Hello all,

    – I’m working on a 2.6ghz macbook pro retina with 16gb ram
    – CS6 prelude, premiere pro, and after effects
    – Canon c300 footage (MXF files)
    – files located on internal hard drive (512gb SSD) and on CF card itself.
    – I have updated premiere pro and after effects to most recent versions with no change in results.

I had MXF files from c300 brought over to my internal drive. I was editing with those files in Premiere just fine. I decided I would try using dynamic link to bring a few clips into AE (replace with composition).

Upon opening, AE substituted these MXF clips with placeholders (color bars) and when I tried importing the same MXF clips directly, AE said that the files were “damaged or unsupported”.

I decided I would try using Adobe Prelude to transcode the MXF files directly from the CF card into MPEG2, proRes, etc. Each attempt at transcoding failed, with the event error : ” Source file might not be an valid video/audio file!”

It seems that my cs6 does not like MXF files from the c300.. but I cannot find another person with this problem online, much less a solution. Any ideas?

If you submit a bug report and include your contact information and the offer to provide a sample clip that is causing the problem, we can look into this.

Adobe media encoder also fails to transcode groups of mxf files imported from prelude. It just crashes. This is on the latest CC.
