I shoot with C100 with Rode NTG-3 (directly connecting to camera) When I was shooting, I checked the level on camera and it wasn’t clipping (I was using the Manual Audio Level Adjustment.) When I was listening to the sound while shooting, the sound was muddy and not really pleasurable to listen to, and I was wondering why?! But it was not clipping on camera (most of the time I was looking at the level on my camera)
Then when I imported the footage into Premiere Pro, it also wasn’t showing any clipping. However, the sounds were kinda distorted when they got loud. Like clipping. (but it’s around – 6 dB) Actually I have never had this problem until last night (it was live music performance.) Do you have any suggestions how I might be able to solve this? Thank you in advance!!!

Does the Mic itself have an attenuation switch? It may have been inadvertently changed. That would mean that the mic itself was clipping before the signal got to the camera.
