  • Canon 70D: keeping touch-screen on with monitor attached

Hi. Is there a way to keep Canon 70D’s touch screen on even when an external monitor is attached? I’m using the external monitor so both me and the client can see what’a going on in a much bigger screen but i also need to use the touch-screen for rack focusing and other controls. Thank you.

Have you checked to see if the freecMagic Lantern firmware addition can enable this?

Thanks, but Magic Lantern has not yet released a stable version for 70D so I’m still looking for other options.

I’ve tried the DLSR Controller app for Android to connect by USB to an Android tablet. That successfully maintained the touch control to the connected tablet at the same time that the camera LCD was still fully active(although it lagged a bit compared to the camera LCD).

It works well enough that a large tablet could fully serve as a monitor to replace the LCD except for the lag in touch congrol.

    Did you find a solution?
I need to do the same thing running my 70D in a DJI Ronin and need the client to view at the same time
