Hi for anyone else still using a 70D – (I know, I know, but it’s a good workhorse for filming auditions!). I have two condenser mics (for the actor and the off-screen reader) going into a Tascam70D and from there into my Canon from the Tascam ‘camera-out’ jack. My mini stereo cable is working fine. Problem: the Canon is somehow mixing down the two channels and making both tracks THE SAME COMBINED WAVE form. Like mono laid down on L and R. It isn’t the Tascam – I can see each mic on it’s own channel, and I’ve tried all the various settings on the Tascam recording and so on… but when I go into Premiere and ‘breakout’ the audio (which appears as a stereo track from the Canon 70D) – both L and R are the exact same – the combo of the two mics. I need to adjust gain in editing on both tracks (mics) separately…If anyone has a suggestion…mighty grateful. Thanks!!

I believe both Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas has a way you can seperate the tracks. Like for example, when I send a video from my Canon Camera over to my Sony Vegas pro, there is a video and audio track grouped together as you are probably aware. I right click the video track and I click the group section and then hover the arrow to where it says “Remove From” and the video and audio will be two seperate tracks that can be worked with individually.

If you are still wondering how to do this since this post was over a year ago now, here is the link of a YouTube video I found to see if it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-L3wFlsEpo
