    Canon 60D Color Loss

    So whenever I convert my rich mp4 footage from my Canon 60D to the Adobe Media Encoder, I always loose color quality. It’s not a lot, but definately less deep than the original. I’ve been using the defult HDTV 1080p preset in AME, I also tried other formats with higher megabit rates, but same results. Any ideas?

    Hi Justin,

    The issue lies with Quicktime Windows (which I’m assuming you are using). What you are seeing is a gamma shift, and there are a few fixes around, including this one.

    What format are you going to? DPX, Quicktime, MXF, etc.

    What codec are you using? ProRes, DNxHD, etc.

    Have you tried using a different transcoding software – Quicktime Pro, MPEG Streamclip, 5DtoRGB, etc.?
