I have been sent rushes using the Canon 5D Mk camera.
I am editing in FCP. When I play the clips back and try and cut a sequence there’s a long delay in playing and making cuts etc.

I transferred all the rushes onto a firewire G-Drive but still it is really slow.

Does anyone know of this problem or can offer a solution?

    Thanks for any help.
    Dan.

    Hi Dan,
H264 is not a very editable stuff.
Type “Canon 5D MK2” in the search window and you will find a ton of info about how to proceed with that footage.
    Cheers,
    Rafael

Thanks for post, I can’t find anything specifically about slow functions when using this material though. Have you experienced this?

    Cheers,
    Dan

    Look harder.
Your answer is on this forum alone at least a zillion times.
    include ‘transcode’ in your search.

    Right.
Don’t waist your time trying to process directly the H264.
Transcode to Prores and conform to 29’98.
    Everything will work.
