Canon 550D (Rebel T2i) picture styles in movie mode
Hello, everybody!
Just messing around with my 550D and tried to register some picture styles from the canon site (https://web.canon.jp/imaging/picturestyle/file/index.html) in movie mode. Didn’t work. I tried to register them with the camera in photo-mode. No problem. Tried it again in movie mode… No way. The button for registering the styles was/stayed inactive.
Did I miss something or are those styles only available in photo-modes?
Any suggestions?

Hi Peter –
Here’s what I found on the web:
– upload them to the camera with EOS Utility, in P mode
– disconnect USB cable
– turn dial to Movie mode
– press MENU button, go to 4th tab with Left/Right buttons, enter Picture Styles
– scroll down to User Def 1., press DISP. button
– press SET on the first menu item (Picture Stlye)
– with Up/Down buttons select your custom style (Flat, Marvel etc)
– press SET again, then MENU to go back
– do the same for User Def 2 and 3.
– exit by pressing MENU several timesAfter this, when in Movie mode, press Q button, with Up/Down buttons select the picture styles icon, and with the dial scroll to your desired custom style. Its name will be displayed on the bottom right of the screen.
I have no way to test this, since I don’t have a T2i (yet). Good luck!

I knew the site, but was obviously a bit confused by the fact, that the picture styles don’t show up automatically when in movie mode (as they do in photo mode). I couldn’t find the proper information on the web. Maybe just searched the wrong keywords … -

Sometimes the Adobe site is just too rich in information to be of any use. I often find things by doing a specific Boolean search in Google that I would never ever find by actually navigating the site. There’s no blame to be placed on Adobe – they just put out too much useful information.

Am I right, you found the information on the adobe site? That would have been the last place I’d look for 😉
I copied a piece of your answer and pasted it into google. I was directed to https://cinema5d.com, which happens to be a forum specifically for canon DSLRs and seems to be a great resource for information.
I’m new to the DSLR world, as I worked primarily with DV and HDV in the last couple of years, so there is a whole new universe for me to explore.

Nice Googling! The Cinema5D site is indispensible for information on this new world of DSLRs. Another one I’m finding useful (especially for thinking outside the box) is:

It’s a more or less DIY site. I especially love the follow focus made from a fishing reel! There’s a lot of great info there, and the guy is learning just like the rest of us.
