    Hi everyone,

Just a quick one i shot a short film on a canon 550d (T2I) and the original footage was about 25gb. I transcoded it using compressor into Apple pro res 422 lt and the file is now over 250gb, To me this seems huge especially as i only have 1tb of storage. So does this sound about right meaning i will have to get some more hard drive space. or is the file size way to big.

    Cheers

    Josh

How long was the film? What compression does the 550d use to get HD Video onto the memory card. Answer these questions and you can do the math as to why it is do big. And yes you need more disk space.

If you’re using final cut pro 7.0 you can use the log and transfer setting to convert to Apple pro res.
