I have a canon XH-A1. I have recieved a request to shoot something specifically with a Panasonic DVX 100 because it shoots 24P. At least it shoots the 24p they are familiar with.
I hand off the tapes and they edit the project. Oh yes SD… DV format.

    Here’s the question.
If I shoot the same event with my canon using one of the 24F settings, will it be the identical format that the client is getting when they get the DVX100 24P tapes. Will the editor know the difference?….. pulldown or format wise?

The canon has two different 24F record settings….2:3….&……2:3:3:2 pull down.
Is one of these selections the same as the DVX100?

And finally will either of these 24F setting actually load into Final Cut Pro for another project that I am editing myself.

One more……If I’m recording HDV, there seems to be only one 24F setting……. that of the 2:3 pullldown.

Thanks for your input….it’s a little confusing with everyone throwing around 24p
    in several different contexts.

    Thanks
    Rich
