  • Canon 1D C Has Delayed Display – Is This Normal??

The display signal from my Canon 1D C is delayed by something around 300ms. This is the case regardless of which of the monitors I’m viewing: the on-board LCD, or any of several outboard monitors connected through the HDMI port. Its true regardless of the resolution or frame rate, although it seems to diminish when I’m at 60fps.

Canon CPS has looked the camera over and is saying that this delay is normal and standard. However, when I’m monitoring audio with headphones in, say, an interview situation, and watching the monitor at the same time, the difference is so significant that I have to turn one of them off! When I slate, the sound of the clapper arrives close to a third of a second before the image.

Can anyone tell me if they’ve experienced anything similar with their 1D C? If you’re not sure, would you consider setting up a test using a clapper or somebody clapping, to get a sense of what kind of delay, if any, is present? Thanks in advance!
