  • Cannot transfer sequence between two projects

I am having a lot of bugs here and I will make two posts because there seem to be two big problems.

Biggest one – I cannot transfer a sequence between two projects. This is a major problem because it means I can’t bring in anything from an autosaved version of my project.

I have my current project. To make things easier, I create a new project. I try and drag the sequence from my current project into the new empty one. As soon as I drop it in the new one, the spinning beach ball appears. Nothing happens until I quit out.

This used to happen sometimes but the autosave would snap it out of the trance. Now, however, the ball just keeps on spinning until I quit.

How long is your sequence? If it’s a long one, it can take FCP up to 10 minutes to fully transfer all the information to your new project. The spinning beachball is normal when you drag a sequence from one project to another. How long that stays on screen depends on how long your Sequence is and how much media it has to refer to.

Also, if your media is spread out over multiple drives, it will take even longer.

I don’t think that’s it for the following reason:
On a whim, I just now tried something else.
Instead of dragging the sequence from one project to another, I copied it from the old sequence and pasted it into the new one.
    Works fine and immediately.
