Cannot select whole group in Illustrator
Hello,
According to everyone, to select a group in Illustrator, use V and click anywhere in it. If you want to select individual elements within that group, use A, or the Group Select tool, or watch the thousands of online videos telling you how to do that. But MY Illustrator is special – if I use V and click on anything – grouped or not, it ALWAYS selects the individual element. The ONLY way I can select a group is to click on it in the layer palette. The Group Selection tool does nothing at all useful. Also, if I try to align some groups or layers, it always aligns every single element, breaking everything. It is not possible to align one group with another.
Am I doing something wrong or is my AI broken? Is there some obscure setting somewhere that I’ve accidentally turned on that basically ruins everything? I’ve been using AI for decades (and hate it) but have never come across this before. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
