  • Cannot Render WMV Test Renders – “ERROR – Could not set Media Type.”

I don’t like to use AVI for quick test renders due to file size and so as I do with Vegas, I like to use WMV for this. Once in a while, it works OK, but more times than not I get two pop-ups:

ERROR – Could not set Media Type. (followed by)
    Couldn’t connect ImageOutPin to FileInPin.

Now, one thing I’ve noticed with Vegas 10e is that when I open a project and I’m listening to some music in my Windows Media Player, I get a “cannot create peaks” error in Vegas for the audio tracks. Doesn’t happen if I’m not in Windows Media player at the time of opening a Vegas project.

I tried the same approach with PI but it’s not consistent. Most of the time Windows Media player on or not, I get that message on attempting a render.

So a bit confused on what’s going on.
    Thanks.

I actually hate using WMVs in pI3. The only thing I can suggest is to try different compression settings for output.

Really though, AVI using a modern codec like DivX or xvid doesn’t produce files that are larger than WMVs, or at least that’s what I’ve found.

OK, thanks. I may also perhaps try mp4 and variations thereof.
