I’m using CS5 in an iMac 2.4 GHz – 4MB RAM and I created a new project and imported a QuickTime movie H.256, 720 x 540, with about an hour duration. The first time I played it, it was ok, I could perform a series of rough cuts to trim the timeline, but then it began to run with audio out of sync, stopping, etc. I then tried to render the timeline, the render message appeared, but nothing happened, the rendering process did not began anyway.
What could be happening with my Premiere?

Is it possible you began editing the clip before the conforming and indexing processing was finished? This can, but not always corrupt the file.

To fix this go to Premiere Pro>Preferences…Media and hit the Clean button in the Media Cache section.

Shut down Premiere Pro. Wait 10sec for the all the BG app processes to end.

    Relaunch Premiere Pro.

Let the indexing and conforming all finish before attempting to do anything. So just go have a toilet break, walk, drink whatever. It won’t take more than a minute or two.

Let us know how that goes for you 🙂

I’ve created another project and imported another footage (9 minutes only). It then rendered ok, but when I tried to do some cuts and add some titles, the program hanged and I had to force quit it.
I’m using Mac OS X 10.6.4 with 4 MB of RAM, the video card is ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB (that came with the iMac). I cannot figure out what’s the problem.

I followed you advice, but now when I start rendering, it goes till frame 65176 of 200342 and stops, and the program hangs, and I have to force quit.
