    HEllo All

i dont know what i am doing wrong. i have tried everything i can think of to make this work. i tried it myself doing what i remembered. it didnt work.

i found Aaron’s tutorial and followed it precisely, but i still cant paste the shape i created in Illustrator and get it to be a mask in After effects.

i checked the AICB check box in Illustrator. and even created a brand new comp in after effects and it still wont work.

    please help!

Since you have checked the AICB checkbox and Preserver Paths it may be that the shape you’ve drawn is a complex path.

Have you tried expanding the path in Illustrator?

I have no problems at all pasting Illustrator paths in CS3 or CS4.

You debug these things by assuming user error since we all know cutting and pasting from AI to AE works well and generally flawlessly.

Try a new AI document with one or two simple paths like circles and lines.

there is something to note about copying and pasting from illustrator to after effects.

you should open illustrator, change the aicb, draw your shape, copy your shape, then open after effects and select your layer and paste.

having after effects open before the check mark being made in aicb causes it to not work.
