Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Cannot import .mxf files

    Hello,

(I’m not sure if this is the appropriate forum for my question, but I’ll post it here anyway.)

I received some video files (.mxf) from a Mac user, stored on a HFS formatted external hard drive, to edit using Vegas Pro 12. To be able to use these files on my Windows pc, I used a tool called “HFSExplorer” to extract the files to my NTFS formatted external hard drive.

Now, the problem is that only one of the 5 .mxf files can be imported in Vegas. The other 4 files seem to be corrupt/damaged (probably due to the extraction process).
This is the error message I get in Vegas: https://gyazo.com/19b249f093d01c1c9fb8cb7e53d7cdf6
And this is the error message I get in VLC: https://gyazo.com/b6746846084b28d9226140a05b91d3c0

My question: is there any software (free or not free) available to recover/repair these .mxf files (so I can use them in Vegas)? I successfully recovered damaged .mov files using a tool called “HD Video Repair Utility”, but no luck so far for the .mxf extension.

    Any help appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Pieter

It may be too late for this. I use macdrive. It allows mac format to be used on windows with no problems. I would re-transfer the files.

Brad, thank you so much for this suggestion. Didn’t know it was that easy…

    Thanks again!
