Suddenly, I cannot hear any audio in Vegas, except for old projects. I can record and see the

waveform on the timeline. The track is not muted, nor the clip. I have pushed the V key and can see

a straight blue line at 0 dB. I can see the green bars bouncing in the Mixer. But I hear nothing.

This goes for audio created in Vegas or in other applications.

I can go back to previous Vegas projects and hear their audio fine. I can even bring the new audio

into previous projects and hear it fine. (So I can work around the problem by importing into an old

project and saving under a new name.)

I can also open the new audio files in Sound Forge, iTunes, and several other programs and hear them

    fine.

Any ideas what could be going on?!

    Thanks,

    Mike

Check your audio device setup in preferences.

I think you may be onto something, Gary, as I recently happened to look at the Audio Device setup, noticed it was set to Microsoft Sound Mapper and changed it to ASIO Echo WDM, which I thought would be right for my Layla 24 audio interface. (Even though everything was working fine before I made the change.) I’ll experiment a bit more. Do you know which one is right?

Changed it back to MS Sound Mapper and it works. Thanks, Gary!

I have both onboard sound and an Echo Mia…when I choose MS sound mapper it uses the onboard sound with my computer speakers…when I choose the Echo driver it uses the Mia which is hooked up to my Mackie 32×8 console.
