I’m an FCP 7 editor learning Adobe Premiere Pro. Along with my captured media, I’m used to storing my render files on an external drive. For some reason, Adobe PP will not allow me to store what it calls Preview Files on an external drive. Every time I adjust the Project Settings to Custom and redirect the Browse button to my external drive as I did with my captured media, it resets to “Same as Project”. Is it possible to do this? Is there a setting that I’m overlooking?

    Thanks,
    Phil

From the drop down for the paths, captured video, etc. choose custom. It should let you browse to a location you specify.

I’m not on a Mac so I don’t know if there are any restrictions to external drives.

The only reason I can think of its not letting you is that its not making a good connection with the drive you want to get to.

    Geoffrey,

I did set the drop down menu to “Custom”. It worked for Captured Video and Audio but for Previews, it would reset to my main hard drive where the project is stored.
