i am using ae 7.0 on 3 gig dual processor intel powermac and i’m getting a “cannot create image buffer” error when i render 1280×720 and even at 720×480. i have my memory up as high as it can go (3gig) and even the disk cache is enabled. is there anyway around this?

    thanks

When you use a PPC application like AE7 on an Intel-based Mac, Rosetta is taking a ton of memory for itself. In some cases, the memory usage doubles. So, what would be appropiate in regular cases is not enough… and the app drowns when trying to process images.
There are some cases where this error appears even if you’re using a supported configuration. This may happen when trying to deal with very large source files.
For a few tips in that case, take a look at this:

However, your case is different. Running AE7 under Rosetta in Intel Macs is not supported. CS3 is a Universal Binary and it’s coming really soon. A feature-complete, public preview version of it is available for AE7 users on the Adobe Labs web site.

Try the secret settings in the Preferences…

Hold shift and select the general preferences. Now let go of shift and there will be a new preference setting…secret.

Do a search on this forum for secret of sechret for the optimum settings.
