So I shot at 4096×2160 edited in premiere and am hacking my way through the wonderful round trip that is premiere to da vinci. When I open the xml file in davinci the timeline is incorrectly set at 3840×2160 and it will not let me change it to match the footage. This creates weird bordering when I export the clips to open them back into premiere. I can’t seem to find anything about this anywhere so any help would be much appreciated!

the free version of resolve is limited to UHD (3840×2160). if you want to expand to full 4k you need the payed one.

Ah thank you, I kind of suspected that was the case but had a hard time finding it posted anywhere.

They really should display a meaningful error message that says, “You need to upgrade to Resolve Studio in order to use higher resolutions.”

But in fairness to BMD, it’s in the manual and config specs.
