  • Cannot connect Canon EOS C50 to Portkeys touch monitor via WiFi

Posted by Christopher Paul on February 14, 2026 at 5:00 pm

I want to control my Canon EOS C50 with my Porkeys monitor since the camera’s screen is so small. From what I have read the only way to do that is via WiFi, even though the monitor accepts USB control from other cameras. The camera is sending WiFi- I can see it on my phone. The monitor does not see it. Best guess is that the monitor will only do 2.4mhz while the camera is doing 5. I don’t see a way to change the camera to 2.4. Any ideas?

    Hey Christopher,

Your Canon EOS C50 should be able to switch between the two:

    • Wi-Fi (Optional Third Party Accessory)

      In-built (2.4 / 5GHz bands)
      Supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac

    Google A.I. suggests:

To switch the Wi-Fi on the Canon EOS C50 to 2.4GHz, you generally need to select the appropriate network frequency during the camera’s wireless setup process or, more effectively, configure your router to separate the bands. The C50 supports both Wi-Fi bands for remote control and FTP transfer via the Canon Camera Connect app or XC Protocol.

If you are considering using a router in the middle, although for Canon printers, this thread might be of help:

    Hope this helps?
