This is the weirdest glitch, and it happens every time:

When I export a sequence from FCP 7, using the share feature, it will go through the lengthy process of authoring and burning the first DVD just fine. But when it pops out that DVD and asks if I’d like to burn another, it goes all the way to the finishing step, and then gets hung up.

I’ve got the window with the active bar telling me “99% complete” with Time Remaining anywhere from 4 to 12 seconds. After hours of this window, I cancel the burn, and have a DVD that plays fine up until the last minute or so.

Anyone know why it’s doing this? And why only with the second DVD?

    Hi Tracy,

I can’t say why it hangs on the second DVD, as I avoid sharing from FCP.

My workflow for DVD looks (generally) like this:
Export timeline as reference movie (not self-contained), using current timeline settings
Fire up Compressor and encode reference QT to .m2v and .ac3 files
Create DVD in DVD Studio Pro, burn a proof copy to test, then save as disk image

This typically takes less time than going to DVD directly from FCP, and I gain the added benefit of a .img file that I can replicate quickly on any machine with a DVD burner (all of them, in my case).

Is there anything being written to the Console during the hang?
